Mundra Port in India is witnessing heavy containers congestion

Mundra Port in India

Mundra Port, which leads container trade in India, is witnessing major congestion and delays in shipping goods, as Indian importers and exporters began to face major delays in shipping goods.

The Mundra Container Freight Terminal Association said the terminals in Mundra are now very congested and the backlog has increased to levels, affecting the normal movement of containers.

Mundra is Adani Ports' flagship port in India, with five container terminals. The private port saw 7.4 million TEU in the 2023-2024 fiscal year, 15% higher than Nava Sheva.

The change in the process of issuing port entry permits for freight vehicles by the Port Authority appears to be the main source of frustration for freight terminal owners.

Truck drivers face longer waiting times to move in and out of containers due to their inability to obtain entry permits immediately.
