Panama Canal decided to increase the number of daily crossings from 32 to 33, effective July 11. This number will also increase again to 34, effective July 22.

This came after the current and expected water levels in Gatun Lake rose in the coming weeks, and with the beginning of the rainy season in the Panama Canal.

The Panama Canal said it will continue to monitor weather conditions daily to implement the necessary operational measures in the event of increased rainfall.

The Panama Canal has added two crossings to the current schedule: one for the Panamax locks (bringing the daily crossings to 25), and one for the Neopanamax gates (bringing the daily crossings to 9). In addition, an increase in draft from 45 to 46 feet was announced, effective June 15.
